Our volunteer flower arrangers ensure that the hospice is a warm and welcoming environment for our patients and visitors. Using their creative flair, our volunteers arrange donated flowers and place them around the hospice for all to enjoy.  

Where: At our Hospice in Wayfield Avenue, Hove, BN3 7LW

When: Weekly shifts of up to four hours, Tuesdays are preferable

What you’ll be doing:

  • Preparing and arranging flowers for display around the hospice
  • Placing flowers in agreed areas, both communal and in patients’ rooms
  • Collecting and clearing the flowers that need replacing
  • Cleaning the vases and flower shed and ensuring the area is tidy at the end of the shift

Your skills and abilities:

  • A good eye for flower arranging and presentation
  • Good communication and listening skills
  • Flexible, adaptable and willing to work on your own or part of a team
  • Reliable and good time keeper
  • Sensitive of the vulnerability of our patients and the impact of bereavement
  • Resilient to the nature of Hospice care and self-aware of the emotional aspects of this role 


  • To commit to a regular shift
  • To be sensitive to the needs of patients and family and maintain confidentiality
  • To adhere to guidelines and procedures of the Hospice
  • You will need to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service Check
  • Attend the Martlets Welcome Day
