The Day Services Team offer a range of support for our outpatients and their families. These services aim to promote wellbeing and relaxation, helping people to feel part of the Martlets community and reduce social isolation. We hold a variety of ad hoc events each year, including choir concerts, tea dances and coffee mornings.

We are looking for volunteers who can work with the Day Services Supportive Care Lead, Ann Borg to become a coordinator for these events, with a focus on choir concerts during 2017.


Performances and concerts often take place at venues across Brighton and Hove, however planning meetings are held at the Hospice, in Wayfield Ave, Hove.


Small events are held once a month and larger concerts take place approximately twice a year. Planning meetings occur once to twice a month, with occasional telephone and email correspondence.


To help coordinate approximately two events every three months and attend planning meetings where necessary.

Please note: When coordinating on the day of an event, you are likely to be required for most of the day.

What you’ll be doing: 

  • Creating event plans using a project based approach to ensure accurate coordination.
  • Leading the coordination of an event, including;
    • Setting up and clearing away
    • Supervising a group of volunteers who are supporting the event on the day
    • Ensuring the event runs smoothly

  • To maintain confidentiality in accordance with Martlets guidelines

  • To attend a 2-day training course on palliative care
  • To be available for some weekends and evenings
