Our main distribution centre is where all our donations are sorted and distributed to our shops. Martlets receives a large number of electrical items which all need to be tested before going on sale. Our team of volunteers test and log these to ensure they are in good working order and comply with all necessary safety regulations.

All equipment is provided on site and volunteers are fully trained in using the testing equipment.

Where: Martlets Distribution centre, Sussex House, Old Shoreham Road, Hove BN3 7DX 

When: 10am-5pm Monday-Saturday 

Usual minimum commitment: Four-hour weekly shift (flexible within opening hours) 

What you’ll be doing:

  • Testing each item to ensure it is working and complies with all necessary safety regulations
  • Logging each item on our system and labelling
  • Moving items around the distribution centre

Your skills and abilities:

  • Attention to detail
  • Good computer skills to log the testing details on our system,
  • Previous electrical testing experience is not necessary but would be welcomed
  • Physically able to lift and move small and medium sized electrical products around the distribution centre
  • Ability to work on your own and as part of our team

Expectations:

  • You will need to attend Martlets Welcome Day and complete Martlets training in health and safety.
  • Be willing to carry out instructions from staff.
  • Be reliable and good time keeping
