Martlets shops and online sites stock thousands of books, CDs, DVDs and games. It’s a busy operation as our shops are updated every day and we need a volunteer to join the team to sort through donated books and identify saleable items.

Where: Unit 6 Sussex House Business Park, 270-274 Old Shoreham Road Hove, East Sussex, BN3 7DX

When: Between 10am and 4.30pm Monday to Friday.

Usual minimum commitment: Weekly three-hour shift (flexible hours/days)

What you’ll be doing:

  • Sorting books which have been donated by our supporters and customers
  • Boxing books for processing in the Online Retail department
  • You will be mainly working independently, although support will be provided

Your skills and abilities:

  • Confident making accurate decisions regarding saleable items
  • Experience in stock processing – although not essential as training is provided
  • Reliable – able to follow instructions relating to values of items
  • Ability to work as directed and to feed back information about any issues
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team of staff and volunteers
  • Ability to lift items, boxes and crates

  • To be polite and reliable
