Salary: £22,440 to £25,296 per annum (dependent on experience)

Hours: 37.5 hours per week over 5 days, including some Saturdays and Sundays

Contract: Permanent

We are currently seeking a full time Shop Manager to work in our charity shops across Brighton and Hove.

With your excellent communication skills and relevant retail experience you will make a real difference by raising vital funds for the Martlets Hospice.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-respected local charity and in this exciting role you will be involved in the day-to-day running of our retail operations.

You will be an experienced and motivated retailer who can run the shops and lead a team of dedicated staff and volunteers.

As well as providing excellent customer service, you will maximise sales and profitability of the shops you support.

Main duties will include: 

  • Manage all aspects of the retail operation including opening and closing the shop, stock management, merchandising, sales, service and security
  • Achieve sales targets whilst keeping costs within an agreed budget
  • Ensure a high standard of customer service at all times
  • Manage volunteer/staff recruitment as an on-going process
  • Promote Gift Aid
  • Maintaining a high standard of presentation
  • Cash handling and banking
  • Ensuring health and safety standards are maintained

Key Skills required:

  • GCSE level or equivalent in English and Maths
  • Excellent computer literacy skills with a sound working knowledge of Microsoft applications including Word and Excel
  • Competent in the use of EPOS systems
  • Proven retail sales experience in a management or supervisory position
  • Experience of leading a team of staff and/or volunteers
  • A high level of customer service skills
  • Commercial skills in order to make the right decisions and achieve sales targets
  • Knowledge of visual merchandising and its importance
  • Willing to work variable hours, including evenings and weekends as agreed
