Please note: You will need to be a minimum of 16 years of age to volunteer in our shops and 17 years of age to volunteer in the hospice itself.
If you are a citizen of the UK you are free to volunteer. The majority of European Union (EU) citizens are also free to volunteer within the UK. For those outside of the EU you need to check that your visa allows you to volunteer. We advise that you contact the UK Border and Immigration Agency if you are unsure about you eligibility to volunteer. Martlets may ask to see documentation proving your eligibility to volunteer within the UK. Martlets is unable to sponsor visas.

All volunteering positions are subject to two satisfactory references. Please ensure that neither referee is a relation or partner. Examples may include a relevant professional, academic tutor or someone that has known you for at least one year.
Disclosure & Barring Service
Martlets ask all applicants to let us know if you have any unspent convictions* so we can consider whether this is relevant to your volunteering. Disclosing a conviction will not necessarily exclude you from becoming a Martlets volunteer, however we may discuss this with you before you begin volunteering.

Please note, if you are applying for a role that meets any criteria as outlined in Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975, you will also be asked to disclose any spent convictions or cautions you may have. Most hospice based roles will require a disclosure and barring check.
