Salary: circa £55,000

Martlets delivers life changing hospice care to the people of Brighton and Hove and surrounding areas. In order to continue to deliver the high standards of care and expertise in all areas of the organisation we need to ensure that we have a people strategy that aligns to the current state and to the future of the organisation. We are therefore looking for a very special individual to join Martlets Leadership Team as Director of People Services to enable us to achieve this. Reporting to the CEO, this role will design and execute a proactive People strategy to incorporate employees, volunteers and their learning aligned to organisational objectives.

As a Leader, you will be required to fulfil the ambassadorial role within our community, and will be proud to represent Martlets as an employer of choice. You will act as Business Partner to the CEO and Leadership Team in both shaping and responding to the diverse people strategy of our charity’s healthcare provision, income generation and SME.

This role will develop our talent acquisition and development strategy to ensure the right skills and capabilities are in place for the continued success of Martlets. Other key responsibilities include the design of an organisational standard for induction, training and development, establish and maintain succession processes and take a lead on all People development issues thereby ensuring leadership, management, technical and core skill training is identified, sourced, delivered and evaluated to demonstrate return on investment.

We are looking for a subject matter expert on Employment Law and Employee Relations who can champion HR and volunteer management, recruitment and training to ensure best practice people management approaches are woven into the day to day operation. CIPD qualified with a minimum of 5 years' experience in HR management, the successful candidate will have proven experience of budget and team responsibility and highly developed interpersonal skills. With the ability to implement change and streamline procedures as required, this role will require excellent communication, presentation and IT skills as well as experience of coaching at all levels. Highly desirable is experience of working within the healthcare or charity sector.
