Emma Knight, our Corporate and Major Donors Manager, shares what our champions have been getting up to.
“I’ve opted for an update with a difference this month; a blog post capturing some of the highlights our partnerships across the city have offered recently.
As some of you may know, in my life outside of work I’ve become something of a regular blogger, as I go through a challenging health issue of my own. Such is my new-found love for blogging, I thought why not write one about all the fantastic corporate support Martlets has received lately – YOUR support!
One would be forgiven for thinking that all things fundraising at Martlets are geared towards this year’s Snailspace and at times it feels a bit like it, as we work towards another incredible, city-wide, mass participation art trail. It would be remiss to not mention the fact that we have an enormous body of support from the business community which is making this project happen. You can catch up with all things Snailspace on the website www.snailspacebrighton.co.uk.
Alongside all the work going into Snailspace, we continue with our annual fundraising and volunteering which is vital to the provision of care to patients and families. Did you know that last year, your support directly impacted 2,932 patients and carers in and around our city? You helped us do that! Thank you!
Your continued support of Martlets is outstanding and the following are some recent highlights showing the different ways people and organisations impact #TeamMartlets.
Cubitt & West Branches across the city have been fundraising for us – and have been for years! We’re very proud to be their Charity of the Year this year. They’ve raised £14,516.93 for us in the past 4 years!
Getting Green Fingered
Lots of teams have been helping maintain our gardens AND completely overhauling them following the improvement works undertaken to the car park. A huge thank you to Amex, FireCo and the Department for Work and Pensions!
Our revitalised garden wouldn’t have been possible without significant support from Tates, Rushfields, HSBC and Brighton & Hove Scottish Country Dancing Club! They all donated to ensure we could create a therapeutic and beautiful outside space for our patients, day service users, loved ones and visitors. Not to mention Martlets staff!
Sometimes we are overwhelmed with generous donations for our shops and need some help sorting them. Teams who have helped enormously came from Legal & General and Access Group. These teams have given lots of hours and people power to our warehouse in recent weeks.
Local Charity Love
Staff at Domestic & General recently voted Martlets as the local charity they’d like to support for the next 2 years, which we are thrilled about! Welcome to #TeamMartlets Domestic & General colleagues!
We always need more volunteers to help in these areas, so I’d love to hear from you if you have a morning, afternoon or day to spare!
Hollie Sargant from The Pensions Regulator raised funds for Martlets by doing the very impressive London 2 Brighton Challenge on May 26th.
This tough test of endurance took 32 hours to walk, but somehow Hollie came away with no blisters or injuries! Hollie has smashed her original target and raised well over £1,000. Well done to everyone who took part!
Thanks to all of you again for being a part of #TeamMartlets and I hope to see you / work with you / celebrate with you soon!
KAPOW! is a seriously good team challenges up for grabs and I urge you to have a chat with colleagues and get involved. I guarantee fun, a challenge and a very good feeling at the end!“
