Whatever your abilities, we’ll help you find a Martlets volunteer role that suits you. Below you’ll find info on how and where you can help out. Many roles include full training. But even if you don’t find something suitable on our website, you could still help us – perhaps in a way we’ve never thought of. If you have a skill you think we’d find useful, have a chat with our volunteering office on 01237 273 400 or email email@example.com.
We have 10 volunteer-run charity shops across the region – in Brighton, Hove, Lewes, Peacehaven, Rottingdean and Woodingdean. They generate vital income by selling everything from vintage clothes and furniture to electrical goods and children’s toys. They’re a great place to volunteer if you want to make new friends and get some retail experience. If you can spare a few hours once a week, then pop into any of our shops for a chat, see available roles or get in touch via firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thousands of goods are donated to us every month – and they all need to be transported, sorted, listed and sold. The dedicated team of volunteers at our warehouse in Hove do all of this and more, including trading goods via our online stores and in our warehouse shop. The warehouse is an amazing place with curiosities at every turn – great for volunteers who prefer to be ‘behind the scenes’, have a keen eye for collectibles, or simply enjoy working as part of a friendly team.
Every Martlets event is powered by volunteers. From dinners and dances to fun runs and challenges – you’ll find our volunteers doing everything from greeting guests to serving refreshments. Events are spread throughout the year – you can help out at all of them or one of them, it’s flexible and completely up to you. We also rely on fundraising volunteers to regularly help with things like maintaining our collection boxes around the city.
Volunteers are a crucial part of our hospice. They run the cafe, provide treatments in our pamper suite, run arts and crafts activities, look after the garden, drive patients to and from appointments and much, much more. We see our hospice as a peaceful oasis in Hove – a positive, uplifting hub for the local community. If you’d like to be a part of it and give something back, check available roles or get in touch on 01237 273 400 or email@example.com.
