In celebration of Hospice Care Week, we're recognising the many faces of Hospice Care. Today Jason shares why he volunteers enjoys working in our Housekeeping team.

“We wash the equivalent of up to thirty loads of washing every day, it’s a big job.

It’s a real honour to work here with amazing people who are so passionate about bringing comfort, compassion and good-quality care to our patients and their families.

Every day is different, but what makes it so special is that we are all part of a multi-professional team that is dedicated to providing truly holistic care. Everyone, throughout the hospice, contributes to that and everyone’s role is valued - we all have our part to play in caring for the patients.

We meet the patients and their families every day, so you get to know them and they tell you their life stories. All my team spend time talking to the patients, our job is to care for people and that’s an important part of that.

I’m really lucky to have such a fantastic team; it is a pleasure to come to work. Everyone plays their part and it all works brilliantly.

I get the chance to touch the lives of the people I work with every day and that’s what makes Martlets such an amazing place to work.”

Jason is our Housekeeping team leader and is responsible for managing a dedicated team of 12 to ensure that the hospice and its wards are kept spotless 365 days of the year.
