Remembering Mum on Mother’s Day

In preparation for Mother’s Day, Jane our Bereavement and Counselling Services Manager, has some helpful tips on how to support your child.

1. Do something to mark the day like visiting her grave, making a card, read a story that Mum used to read, look at favourite family photos, make Mummy’s favourite cake and share happy memories.

2. Remind your Child’s teacher that their Mum has died to ensure they are sensitive in any class  based activities they organise

3. Remember children grieve in different ways

4. Make sure you include all the siblings and encourage them to support one another

5. Let your child know it is a difficult time and that it’s okay to feel sad

If you or your child are, or have been, supported by our bereavement team you can always get in touch for additional support, no matter how long it’s been.
