Martlets 36 days of Christmas Donate Fundraise My name is Jaimie Wilson and I am one of the Ward Sisters here at Martlets. I am asking, on behalf of our whole team of nurses, support staff and volunteers, if you could please make a donation to support the essential care we will give to patients and families in our community this Christmas. Christmas is, of course, a special time for many families – but never more so than when a member of a family has a terminal illness and faces what could be their last Christmas. Our goal is to give everyone we care for the best possible chance for a Christmas full of joy, positivity, and togetherness – all the things we’d want for ourselves and our loved ones. We don’t just have the ‘12 Days’ here at the hospice; this year we will have 36 Days of Christmas! We know that seeing Christmas Day itself can be a goal for many patients but, sadly, each year there are patients who just won’t live that long. So, when we need to, we’ll bring Christmas forward and enable an early Christmas celebration. Our Hospice at Home nurses will make extra visits to patients over the holidays, helping to keep people at home; we’ll try to get our in-patients home if we can, even if it’s just for a few hours on Christmas Day itself. And, of course, there’s always a buzz about the place on 25th December – the hospice really does have the most special atmosphere. Our dedicated catering and housekeeping teams come in early and always deliver a wonderful three-course Christmas dinner with all the trimmings. Every member of our team will work a few shifts over Christmas; we all contribute, because we know we can go home afterwards to our own families. But that extra care does cost more to give. My appeal to you today is to help pay for some of that extra, extraordinary care. We are only too aware that our ability to care is utterly dependent on supporters like you. My hope is that this Christmas, you might feel inspired to help us once more. Please, could you make a donation today and help to bring urgently needed care to our patients this Christmas? On behalf of us all here at the hospice, may I wish you and your loved ones a happy and peaceful Christmas and New Year.
