Medical Care The Martlets used to care mainly for terminally ill cancer patients. Over the years the care that the Hospice provides has been made available to a far wider range of people, including those suffering from a number of other debilitating and life threatening conditions.
In-Patient Care People are often surprised when they visit the Hospice to find such a welcoming and warm environment. They are reassured to find a very positive place with much laughter where care and support is extended to the whole family.
Day Hospice Care
The Day Hospice provides support for up to 15 people Monday - Thursday. There is a varied programme of activities and therapies as well as nursing, which is provided in a comfortable and friendly environment.
Martlets @ Home The Martlets @ Home service takes the specialist skills of the medical, nursing and other support staff out into the community to work with people in their homes.
Patient and Family Support The Patient and Family Support Team are available for patients and their families. The team is based in the Martlets Hospice. Often being admitted to a Hospice or attending a Day Hospice can be a difficult and emotional time for patients and their families.
Bereavement The Patient and Family Support Team also provides a bereavement care service, which is available for relatives and friends from the day after a death (when family members are invited back to the hospice) and in the weeks and months ahead.
