Volunteering for the Martlets is a fun and rewarding experience. You’ll get personal satisfaction and make new friends, not to mention the skills that you’ll learn along the way. Many volunteers have discovered that volunteering can also help them back to work. You might be surprised to learn that at the Martlets volunteers make up the majority of the work force; in fact, the Martlets has over 500 volunteers.
Volunteers are essential within all parts of the organization; in the hospice working alongside staff and patients, in our nine charity shops, our furniture warehouse, eBay shop and online books department as well as within our fundraising team. We could not continue to offer our vital services without the commitment and generosity of our volunteers. The hours that our volunteers work would cost the Martlets over £400,000 if we had to pay for the time they give us. So you can see that volunteers are an essential part of life here.
Join us and use your skills to help make a difference. Whether you’re retired, a student (minimum age of 16 years in our Trading Company, 17 years in the hospice itself) or perhaps the children have left home – whatever your circumstances, if you have the time, we need your help.
There are both flexible and regular volunteering opportunities available so, to find out more about volunteering at the Martlets, simply download our Volunteering Application form from this page.
