Charitable trusts and foundations
Our work enjoys the support of many charitable trusts and foundations. Trust donors have been essential to the establishment, continuation and growth of the Hospice. They have supported all aspects of our operations from the original capital appeal to running costs, patient services, new service developments and equipment needs.
Here are some recent examples of the work supported by charitable trusts and foundations.
Children's Bereavement Counselling - Since April 2004, we have been able to develop the counselling services we provide to children and young people affected by bereavement. This expansion has been made possible thanks to grants from the Argyll Children's Fund and the BBC Children in Need Appeal.
Art Therapy - The continuation and expansion of art therapy for our Day Hospice patients and in-patients has been secured with the help of a number of trusts including the Eleanor Barton Trust, the Derek and Eileen Dodgson Foundation, the Joanies Trust , the Caron Keating Foundation and the Henry Smith Charity.
Syringe Drivers - In November 2007, we were able to buy a new syringe driver for our Martlets @ Home service for use in delivering medication to patients being nursed in their own homes. This purchase was supported by a grant from the Skipton Building Society Charitable Foundation.
Martlets @ Home Service - The establishment of a nursing team to deliver Hospice care to local people in their own homes since 2002 has been supported by The BDNA Trust, The Worshipful Company of Grocers, the Richard Radcliffe Charitable Trust and the Henry Smith Charity.
Staff Uniforms - In October 2007, we received a grant from The Argus Appeal to support the costs of purchasing replacement uniforms for our nurses and other healthcare staff.
Beds and Chairs - Our 2007 appeal to buy replacement beds and chairs for use by patients in the Day Hospice and InPatient Unit was supported by a number of trusts. Donors included the Hove and Portslade Aid in Sickness Association, the Albert Hunt Trust, the Ladbrokes in the Community Charitable Trust and the Elise Pilkington Charitable Trust.
Day Hospice Entertainments - In 2007 and 2008, The Concertina Charitable Trust made donations to enable us to commission singing and theatrical performances for our Day Hospice patients.
Crockery and Cutlery - A number of donors helped us to buy new crockery and cutlery between 2006 and 2008 including The Worshipful Company of Cutlers, the Roger Raymond Charitable Trust and the Simpson Charitable Trust.
We are supported by national, local and personal private trusts with help ranging from one off and regular gifts to grants over 3 years and from £20 to over £75,000.
We are very grateful to all the charitable trusts and foundations who have supported our work and enabled us to respond to the needs of our patients and their loved ones.
We are always looking to build relationships with new Trust donors and we have a range of projects and services for Trusts to support ranging from aspects of patient care services to specific items of equipment. Please use the link below to view our Wish List which details just some of the items that can be supported.
