Over the last six years, 120 people have jumped to raise money for Martlets. Most have taken place at Headcorn Aerodrome in Kent. There is no average age; skydivers have been aged between 18 and late 70s!
What is a tandem skydive?
A tandem skydive is an experience which allows you to parachute securely attached to an experienced instructor. After a thorough briefing lasting about 30 minutes, the jump is made from approximately 12,000 feet and includes a freefall of 30-40 seconds before your instructor opens the parachute. Although you may be given an opportunity to steer the parachute, the instructor remains in control at all times.

What does it feel like to skydive?
"Before you know it you are in freefall for about 5,000ft, or 45 seconds. All the work is done for you by the professional and then they deploy the parachute. Suddenly it all goes very quiet, serene and SLOW. You are sitting in your harness with this wonderful view of the world .You can chat and my instructor pointed out the sights. I could see as far as Eastbourne and Canvey Island. All too soon you are nearing the ground, feet up so Clem can do a lovely soft landing. It is a really great feeling." Wendy
