Education and training
by Jackie Windsor, Education and Training Co-ordinator

"The Hospice is committed to constantly improving the quality of its services to patients and their relatives through an on-going programme of staff and volunteer training. The Hospice also aims to educate and train health professionals working in other settings in the principles and practices of palliative care."
Education and training are available for in-house staff and volunteers, community and hospital health and social care workers.
Alongside our established courses we may be able to provide tailor made courses to meet your requirements.
We have an ongoing arrangement with Brighton and Sussex universities offering placement opportunities to nursing and medical students. There may be opportunities for exchange programmes and placements for other students negotiable on an individual basis.
The Purpose of the Education Department
The education department seeks to support the attainment of quality care through:
- Sharing good practice
- Creative collaborative working
- Supporting the development of skills and knowledge
- Facilitating people's ability to develop reflective and analytical skills
- Enhancing people's ability to consider interventions, evaluating their evidence base
Facilities in the Education Department
However, we are delighted to announce that in September 2006 we opened a purpose-built Education and Training Centre that is located just a 3-minute walk away from the Hospice. This provides greatly enhanced facilities for all our education and training programmes.
The General Public
Information about the hospice movement and the facilities at the Martlets are available to the general public.
