Our work enjoys the support of many Charitable Trusts and Foundations. Trust donors have been essential to the establishment, continuation and growth of the Hospice. They have supported all aspects of our operations from the original capital appeal to running costs, patient services, new service developments and equipment needs.
Here are some recent examples of the work supported by Charitable Trusts and Foundations.
In Patient Unit Mattresses
In February and March 2013, we were able to purchase four new specialist bed mattresses for use by our InPatients thanks to grants from the Argus Appeal, the Albert Hunt Charitable Trust and the Rank Foundation (under a scheme managed by Help the Hospices).
In Patient Unit Overbed Tables
We ran a campaign in 2012 to replace some of our overbed tables in use daily by our patients for reading, eating and other tasks while they are in bed. Donations from the Grand Order of Lady Ratlings, the Rotary Club of Brighton & Hove Breakfast, and the Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation enabled us to buy all the new tables we needed.
Orangery Refurbishment
Our appeal to refurbish the Orangery lounge/cafe used by our InPatients and their visitors was funded by a generous grant from The Childwick Trust in February 2013.
Hospice at Home Service
In April 2013, we received a donation from Making A Difference Locally Limited towards the costs of providing hospice care in people's own homes. Other recent gifts from trust donors to this service have included from the BDNA Trust, the Ernest Kleinwort Charitable Trust, the George John and Sheilah Livanos Charitable Trust, the Pebble Trust, and the Richard Radcliffe Trust.
InPatient Unit
The Lisbet Rausing Hospice Fund at the Sussex Community Foundation gave generous grants of £5,000 towards the costs of InPatient Unit care in December 2011 and October 2012.
Nurse Call System
In November 2012, we were able to purchase and install a new nurse call system for use by patients at the Hospice to call for help wherever and whenever they need it. The new system covers the whole Hospice site and has greatly improved patient safety, independence and wellbeing. This work was supported by a grant from the Towergate Charitable Foundation (under a scheme managed by Help the Hospices).
Hospice Laundry
Our appeal to replace our laundry equipment was boosted with a grant of £10,000 from the Garfield Weston Foundation in April 2012.
We are supported by national, local and personal private Trusts with help ranging from one off and regular gifts to grants over three years and from £20 to over £20,000.
We are very grateful to all the charitable Trusts and Foundations who have supported our work and enabled us to respond to the needs of our patients and their loved ones.
We are always looking to build relationships with new Trust donors and we have a range of projects and services for Trusts to support ranging from aspects of patient care services to specific items of equipment. Please use the download button on this page to view our Wish List which details just some of the items that can be supported.
